Helmet Fitting Guide
To help you choose the best motorcycle helmet for you, we've provided you with a series of steps below to ensure proper motorcycle helmet fit. Please note that this is only a guide and to ensure a proper fit for yor helmet, there is no substitute for actually trying your helmet at a retail location before ordering online.
1. Measure your head. Due to varying shapes, heads that appear to be similar in size with a tape measure may not necessarily fit the same size motorcycle helmet.
a) A cloth tape measure is preferred - since it will hug the contour of your head better.
b) Measure the circumference of your head at about 1 inch above your eyebrows in front, and take the position at the back of the head that will give you the largest circumference. This may take a few attempts to find the largest measurement.
2. Hat Size – If you know your hat size, this can also help as a starting point for measurements.
3. Use the manufacturers guide for each particular motorcycle helmet select the appropriate helmet size. If your measurements fall between 2 sizes, then go up to the next size - as a starting point.
4. Your helmet should be a snug, comfortable fit on your head - if you can put your finger between your forehead and the helmet - then it is too large.
5.adjust the chin strap.
6. Now when you move you head around, the helmet should not slide-off or shift.
7. You should have a clear view forward - as if you were looking forward on your motorcycle. Also you view to the left & right should be clear.
8. Now apply pressure & press down on the top of the helmet - it should still feel comfortable.
9. Try wearing the helmet for as long as possible (at least 30 minutes) - to see if it still feels comfortable.
Please note that this is only a guide - and there is no substitute for actually trying on a helmet in your local motorcycle dealership.
